We hiked up Trail Canyon trail, then followed the North Loop trail to the Mt Chas summit, then down the South Loop trail back to the Cathedral Rock picnic area. Approx. 17 miles.

A relatively short hike from near Hilltop Campground on Rt 158 up to just over 10,000 ft altitude. We turned around, but this trail takes you to the Mt. Charleston summit.

Saturday May 17, 2008- South Cottonwood Valley. We climbed the Badger Pass Trail, then intersected with the Dead Horse Loop and rode it clockwise back to Hwy 160, stopping at the Wilson Tank Overlook. About 17 miles total. Not satisfied, we drove up to Mt. Charleston and rode the 6 mile Bristlecone Trail Loop, and even had to climb over some lingering snow in the middle of the downhill singletrack! A fun, exhausting day!

From the Cathedral Rock Picnic Area, we hiked almost 5 miles up the South Loop Trail towards the Summit of Mt Charleston, before cutting up the ridge to the South to the summit of Griffith Peak. (11,074 ft) LOTS of Snow!!!

This ride should only be done by sadists and/or Lance Armstrong. Hot, loose gravel, 8 miles from our house to the top of the road. ALL uphill. I needed to collect the Geo-Cache, since the location where I placed it in MAY of last year is apparently where the Billy Goats like to copulate, and therefore off-limits to geo-cachers. Yeah, I'm not kidding.
